WKO Sustainable Energy System

The Palaestra apartment complex and the Apollo Hotel are supplied with heat, cold and tap water heating by the CHP plant operated by Vaanster. The apartment complex was built above the hotel. The flats are built in a distinctive style, although there is a physical connection to the hotel. All residences are equipped with an exchanger and a floor heating and cooling system. Construction started in 2010 and completion started in 2011. The newly built Apollo Hotel was completed in 2015. Vaanster operates the WKO system for a period of 30 years.

Total gross floor area is 10,000 sq m; the hotel occupies 6,000 sq m and the residential units are 4,000 sq m.

Developer: Mould Development

Investor: Next Real Estate (hotel), Woonkracht 10 (residential)

Ownership boundary

The ownership boundary indicates which components Vaanster operates, maintains and, if necessary, replaces. The other components are owned by the home owner, who is therefore also responsible for maintenance and possible replacement. For owner-occupied houses, you are the owner of the house yourself. For rented houses, the landlord is the owner of the house.

The image is a schematic representation of the installation in your home. The components in your home may be positioned differently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Malfunction in heat delivery

There is a failure in the heat supply. This is annoying and you want it solved as quickly as possible.

Who is responsible for the system in my home?

The answer to this question varies from project to project and is indicated by an ownership boundary. You can look this up by typing in the zip code on the home page.

Disturbance in delivery of cold

You suspect a fault in the supply of cold. That is annoying and, of course, you want it resolved as quickly as possible.

Can I adjust my advance payment amount myself?

Yes, you can. In your personal account under the heading "my invoices" you can adjust your advance amount. This is within a certain margin, because the advance payment amount must be sufficient to cover the fixed costs.

Malfunction in the hot water supply

It is annoying when hot water does not come out of the tap. It is important to determine:

  • Whether there is reduced hot water or no hot water at all.
  • Whether there is no hot water coming from any faucet (also called tapping point) in the house or whether there is a single faucet from which there is no hot water.
