WKO Sustainable Energy System

Republica is an elegant and vibrant urban oasis in Buiksloterham, the area in Amsterdam North that is rapidly transforming into a circular residential area for living, working and recreation. In Republica, through a free interplay of buildings, spaces and functions are created, creating a delightful, relaxed urban neighbourhood.
Thinking, sleeping, phoning, falling in love, working, talking and silencing and cosy eating; everything that keeps you awake or, on the contrary, makes you fall asleep can be found in and around Republica. In the squares, inside the cafes, in the gym and on the rooftop terrace. Republica is a mix of creative businesses, co-working spaces, rental and owner-occupied housing, a hip hotel, recreation and a café with plazas and alleyways aimed at maximum cross-fertilisation between the different components.

Republica is an extremely sustainable city-state. It generates its own energy through solar panels and thermal storage. Energy that can be exchanged between them via the Smart Grid, a smart electricity system, and stored in Republica's battery. Catering kitchens will have grinders for GF waste and, like all homes, will be connected to waternet's biorefinery, which will convert waste and runoff water into biogas. Your GF waste produces biogas!

Green roofs

Republica makes extensive use of recyclable building materials. In addition, the green roofs help against overheating and Republica is 'rainproof': infiltration crates collect the (excess) rainwater and can delay its discharge via a smartflow system. The hotel roof will have a natural swimming pool with an innovative purification system. The green sedum roofs, façade gardens and greenery on the squares, together with nesting boxes for swifts and bats, will ensure greater biodiversity in Republica and the rest of Buiksloterham.

Would you like to know more about one of the sustainable energy systems for your project? We would be happy to get in touch with you to discuss it together.

Property boundary

The ownership boundary indicates which parts Vaanster operates, maintains and, if necessary, replaces. The other components are owned by the homeowner, who is therefore also responsible for maintenance and possible replacement. For owner-occupied houses, you are the owner of the house yourself. For rented houses, the landlord is the owner of the house.

The image is a schematic representation of the installation in your home. The components in your home may be positioned differently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Malfunction in heat delivery

There is a failure in the heat supply. This is annoying and you want it solved as quickly as possible.

Who is responsible for the system in my home?

The answer to this question varies from project to project and is indicated by an ownership boundary. You can look this up by typing in the zip code on the home page.

Disturbance in delivery of cold

You suspect a fault in the supply of cold. That is annoying and, of course, you want it resolved as quickly as possible.

Can I adjust my advance payment amount myself?

Yes, you can. In your personal account under the heading "my invoices" you can adjust your advance amount. This is within a certain margin, because the advance payment amount must be sufficient to cover the fixed costs.

Malfunction in the hot water supply

It is annoying when hot water does not come out of the tap. It is important to determine:

  • Whether there is reduced hot water or no hot water at all.
  • Whether there is no hot water coming from any faucet (also called tapping point) in the house or whether there is a single faucet from which there is no hot water.
