WKO Sustainable Energy System

De Vier Gravinnen is a residential care centre in Tiel. The floors consist of 192 flats and the ground floor is dedicated to business spaces for social and commercial entrepreneurs. The gross floor area is 20,000m2. Sustainability plays an important role at De Vier Gravinnen. Heat and cold is regulated via underground storage and the building has energy label A.

"The De Vier Gravinnen project was completed in 2011. SCW Tiel was responsible for the project development and SCW Energie was investor. The gross floor area is 20,000 m2 and the flats are leased to private individuals, STMR and SZR Zorgpartij. The operation of the WKO system has been in the hands of Vaanster since 2015. Vaanster takes all worries out of your hands regarding energy supply. The work is carried out in a timely, professional and regular manner. The quality requirements of the work and the organisation of the execution meet the set requirements and standards."
H.W.J. Suijdendorp, Director-Director SCW Tiel

The architects of De Vier Gravinnen have given new impetus to the Hertogen neighbourhood in Tiel by using the Italian city of Siena as a model for the design. Terra-coloured bricks, cream-coloured stucco, open connections and a 'plaza' where everyone meets. Obviously, Siena wins out in terms of atmosphere over this Tiel variant, but in terms of sustainability, De Vier Gravinnen triumphs.
In 2015, SCW asked Vaanster to take over the management of the WKO installation. In this construction, SCW remains the owner of the system, while Vaanster takes care of the technology, billing and all communication with the residents. This way SCW does not have the burden, but it retains control over the tariffs.
When Vaanster took over management of De Vier Gravinnen's WKO, it turned out to be malfunctioning energetically. Through hydraulic and control adjustments, gas consumption has dropped significantly compared to previous years. Supply reliability has also increased and cooling has improved. The modifications better achieve the primary objective: comfort for residents.

Want to know more about one of the sustainable energy systems for your project? We would be happy to get in touch with you to discuss it together.

Ownership boundary

The ownership boundary indicates which components Vaanster operates, maintains and, if necessary, replaces. The other components are owned by the home owner, who is therefore also responsible for maintenance and possible replacement. For owner-occupied houses, you are the owner of the house yourself. For rented houses, the landlord is the owner of the house.

The image is a schematic representation of the installation in your home. The components in your home may be positioned differently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Malfunction in heat supply

There is a malfunction in the heat supply. This is inconvenient, and you naturally want it resolved as soon as possible.

Who is responsible for the system in my home?

The answer to this question varies depending on the project and is indicated by means of a property boundary. You can look this up by entering the postcode on the homepage. Go to www.vaanster.nl and enter the postcode and house number at the top. You will then be redirected to the webpage corresponding to the entered postcode. There, you will find an image depicting the property boundary of all equipment in the home.

Disturbance in delivery of cold

You suspect a fault in the supply of cold. That is annoying and, of course, you want it resolved as quickly as possible.

Can I adjust my advance payment amount myself?

Yes, you can. In your personal account, you can adjust your advance payment amount under the section "my invoices." However, this adjustment is within a certain range because the advance payment amount must be sufficient to cover the fixed costs.

Malfunction in the hot water supply

It is annoying when hot water does not come out of the tap. It is important to determine:

  • Whether there is reduced hot water or no hot water at all.
  • Whether there is no hot water coming from any faucet (also called tapping point) in the house or whether there is a single faucet from which there is no hot water.
